What is Video Resolution?
Resolution describes how many pixels make up a video frame. More pixels generally means a sharper image, but also larger files, longer upload times, and more credits spent on generation.
Common Resolutions
- 720p (1280x720 or 720x1280): Fastest to generate, smallest files. Good for drafts, loops, and quick posts.
- 1080p (1920x1080 or 1080x1920): The default for most platforms. Sharp on mobile, looks professional on desktop.
- 4K (3840x2160): Highest detail, but large files and not always supported by short-form platforms.
How to Pick the Right One
- Match the platform. TikTok and Reels compress everything anyway, so 1080p is usually enough.
- Use 720p for iteration: cheaper, faster, lets you try many prompts.
- Upgrade to 1080p for the final version you actually publish.
- Avoid 4K for vertical social clips unless you specifically need it; the file size rarely pays off.
Resolution vs. Quality
Resolution is only one factor. A 1080p video with poor lighting, shaky motion, or a weak prompt will still look worse than a clean 720p clip. Use the highest resolution that your generation credits, time budget, and target platform all support.
